Brand Story : Cambridge SatchelMonday, December 10, 2012
It began when Julie Deane's daughter was being bullied at school, she promissed her to take her to new school that costed £12,000-a-year but she couldn't afford it so she sat down at her kitchen and wrote a list of ten ways to raise money one of her idea's was making satchels and by chance her daughter and son were reading Harry Potter when the son asked the mother for a satchel that's similar to those in the book.
she started the action and asked leather supplier in hull to make her 8 brown satchel they sold out in a week,
it hit her so she started reading book on how to run business and before she knew it she was selling in Saks Fifth Avenue and Bloomingdales.
it was even described as The Brit It Bag !
more over she named by the Drapers list of the 100 most influential people in FASHION !
and when she was asked if she ever had passion for fashion she said " No, no, no. any photos of me in the 1980's are evidence of that "
How Insane ?
she started at the budget of £600 and 8 bags ! and now the company makes more than 900 bags a day, she used to order from leather suppliers and work from her kitchen now she owns her own factory in leicestershire with 84 staff !!
